North East Residents Love The Carolinas And Read Carolina Homes And Interiors

STACY E. DOMINGO

IT COMES AS NO SURPRISE that people forced to endure the sometimes brutal winters in the Northern and Central areas of the United States often fantasize about warmer climates; this is exactly where Linda Newsome found herself one early spring day in frigid Caribou, Maine.

Having lived in Charleston for 20 years, she was certainly aware of the many differences between the two locations, most notably the weather. Her day was uneventful until she discovered a copy of Carolina Homes & Interiors atop the magazine pile in her local optometrist’s office. It was filled with gorgeous photos and information on the best real estate in the Carolinas, and it was all she needed to feed her imagination and, at least in her mind, escape the biting cold and swirling snow outside.

“You can’t get any closer to the ocean,” Linda says, remembering her two decades in warm and sun-drenched Charleston, South Carolina. “It’s green everywhere. It’s just awesome.”

Carolina Homes & Interiors will celebrate 20 years of publication in 2008, and its distribution, both in terms of numbers and reach, continues to rise and spread. Issues of the magazine are found throughout the Carolinas and in select locations in Georgia, Florida, New Jersey and New York, as well. Nevertheless, Linda was pleasantly surprised to discover the familiar publication just 45 miles south of the Canadian border.

Though Linda has warm memories of her stay in the Carolinas, she has no plans to leave her home state of Maine. But on a cold, snowy day, she and our many other Northern friends can find solace in an issue of Carolina Homes & Interiors and dream of South Carolina’s balmy weather
